1940 Model EL Harley Bobber

Randy from New Castle, Virginia, United States of America made available these photos of his beautiful 1940 Model EL Harley Bobber motorcycle.

Randy: "Here are some photos of my 1940 Knucklehead Bobber. I put this motorcycle together over the course of 2 years in my home garage. I would like to thank Lee Clemens and his crew at Departure Bike Works in Richmond, VA for the excellent engine rebuild. (And advice!!) Paint is thanks to Gene Glick of CG Cycles in Blacksburg, VA.

This bike is far from perfect, but she is a rider that I am very proud of her! This is a Harley EL model, but she has been modified to 74 cubic inches. She has 4 speed hand shift, with 1941 style tanks and tank trim. (I like it!)

This Knucklehead is a real blast to ride, easy to handle, plenty of power.

Thanks, Randy"

The Harley Davidson model EL overhead valve Knucklehead ran from the 1936 to 1947 production years and had a cylinder capacity of 61 cubic inches. In 1941 Harley introduced the FL model Knuck engine which had 74 cubic inches displacement. In 1948 both the EL and the FL Knucklehead models were replaced by the Harley Panhead engine.

Randy's model EL Knucklehead engine has been upgraded from its original 61 cubic inches to the 74 cubic inches of the FL model.
